Available Positions

JMD is seeking a Project Engineer specializing in civil / environmental engineering to join our growing team.  The position will involve a variety of investigation, design, and construction-related work in support of our projects across the Western New York region.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, reliable, and eager to learn.  The Project Engineer will, ideally, provide support for all of our civil engineering disciplines, including water/wastewater, transportation, rail, structural, and water resources/environmental, as necessary.  Opportunities may arise for more specialized growth; however, the priority is for a well-rounded individual able to assist in a wide variety of projects and needs.

As Project Engineer, you will:

  • Interact with our diverse team of engineers daily
  • Assist our team with a wide variety of projects from design through construction
  • Assist our team with a variety of engineering related tasks including performing calculations, writing technical reports, preparing drawings, specifications, and estimates, and assisting with permit applications
  • Assist with field inspections, assessments, and other outdoor project related work
  • Perform field visits to project locations during construction and assist with construction management duties
  • Assist with leading tasks as assigned by a Project Manager
  • Perform other duties as necessary

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years relevant experience in the design and construction of civil engineering projects, ideally within the Western New York area with an emphasis on public project work
  • B.S. or M.S. degree from an ABET-accredited undergraduate / graduate program in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • New York State Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with drafting platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or Microstation – Additional GIS and modeling software skills are a plus, but not required
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including technical report writing ability
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work through problems independently, as well as assist with leading design task efforts with limited supervision
  • Must have own transportation and be able to work onsite

 

Location:

This is an in-office position at either our Tonawanda, NY or Perinton, NY office.

Salary:

Anticipated salary range is $85,000 to $120,000.  Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications & experience.

J.M. Davidson, D.P.C., a civil engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Junior Engineer specializing in civil/structural engineering to join our growing team.  The position will involve a variety of investigation, design, and construction-related work in support of our projects across the Western New York region.  The position is an in-office position located in our Perinton, NY office.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, reliable, and eager to learn.  The Junior Engineer will play a vital role in our structural engineering practice but will also have the opportunity to support our other civil engineering disciplines including wastewater, transportation, rail, and water resources/environmental, as necessary.

As a Junior Engineer, you will:

  • Interact with our diverse team of engineers daily
  • Obtain real-world experience working on our current projects, from design through construction
  • Apply your engineering skills to help with our daily tasks including calculations, technical reports, design drawings, letters, spreadsheets, and permitting applications
  • Assist with the preparation of contract plans and specifications
  • Assist with the preparation of construction cost estimates
  • Assist with the review of construction submittals
  • Assist with field inspections / assessments
  • Perform field visits to see projects during construction
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of our Professional Engineers and/or Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • 0 – 5 years relevant experience
  • B.S. or M.S. degree from an ABET-accredited undergraduate / graduate program in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to take on new challenges and broaden your skill set to accomplish the necessary tasks at hand
  • Must have own transportation (i.e., a valid driver’s license) and be able to work onsite in our Victor office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam
  • Prior experience in AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Microstation a plus
  • Experience using GIS related software

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications & experience. Anticipated salary range is $65,000 to $80,000

J.M. Davidson, D.P.C., a civil engineering consulting firm, is seeking an Engineering Intern specializing in civil/environmental engineering to join our team for the Summer of 2026, working from either our Tonawanda or Victor office locations.  The position will involve a variety of investigation, design, and construction-related work in support of our projects across the Western New York region.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, reliable, and eager to learn.  The primary focus of this internship will be to assist and learn alongside our staff as we complete studies, designs, and field investigations for various projects. The intern will provide support for all of our civil engineering disciplines including water/wastewater, transportation, rail, structural, and water resources/environmental, as necessary.

As an Engineering Intern, you will:

  • Interact with our diverse team of engineers daily
  • Obtain real-world experience working on our current projects, from design through construction
  • Apply your engineering skills to help with our daily tasks including calculations, technical reports, design drawings, letters, spreadsheets, and permitting applications
  • Assist with field inspections and assessments

  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of our Professional Engineers and/or Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program seeking a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Possess the ability to take on new challenges and broaden your skill set to accomplish the necessary tasks at hand
  • Must have own transportation and be able to work onsite in Tonawanda or Victor office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in AutoCAD/Civil3D/Microstation a plus
  • Prior hydraulic modeling experience a plus
